However, because of demand, prices can soar to $5,000 when people sell them for above-face value. The reason Super Bowl tickets are hard to get is tickets are tightly controlled by the National Football League (NFL). The NFL gives out 75 percent of Super Bowl tickets to the league, competing teams, host team and the rest of the NFL. It gives just 500 tickets to fans in a Super Bowl ticket lottery. And then there are the season ticket holders. This leaves precious few left for sale and, because the demand is so high, the price is high.
